Terms of Service
Last updated 8 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Arash Joobandi ("we", "us") for using Clippy: the Mac app, the website at hiclippy.com, and the service behind them. By creating an account or using Clippy you agree to them.
What Clippy does
Clippy finds moments in your streams that could become short videos, helps you edit them on your Mac, keeps your work in sync between your Macs, and publishes the clips you schedule to the accounts you connect. Clippy is in early access: features may change, and some may be limited or unavailable.
Your account
- You must be at least 16, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and on the Macs you link to it. Keep your email account secure, because that is how you sign in.
- Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
Your content
You keep every right you have in your streams, transcripts, edits and clips. You give us permission to store, process and transmit them only as needed to run Clippy for you: syncing your ledger, sending text and still frames to our AI providers, and publishing what you schedule. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups, which expire within 14 days.
You may use Clippy only with content you have the rights to use, edit and publish. Clipping someone else's stream needs their permission.
Connected platforms
When you connect YouTube, Instagram, Threads or TikTok, Clippy acts on your behalf, and your use of each platform stays subject to that platform's own terms, including the YouTube Terms of Service. You decide what is posted and when. Platforms can change, limit or refuse posts, and we are not responsible for their decisions.
AI suggestions
Clippy uses AI to suggest moments, cuts, captions, titles and thumbnails. Suggestions can be wrong or inaccurate. Review everything before you publish it; you are responsible for what you post.
Acceptable use
Don't use Clippy to:
- publish content that infringes someone's rights, or that a platform's rules don't allow,
- harass, deceive or impersonate anyone, or spam,
- reverse-engineer, overload or get around the limits of the service, or access another person's account or data.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Fees
Clippy is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price before you are charged anything.
Ending your use
You can stop using Clippy and delete your account at any time (see data deletion). We may end the service, or your access to it, with reasonable notice. If we end the service, we will give you at least 30 days to take your data with you.
No warranty
Clippy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we don't promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that posts will publish on time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or audience. Our total liability for any claim about Clippy is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and disputes go to the state and federal courts in California, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and email you before a change that materially affects you takes effect. Using Clippy after that means you accept the new terms.
